Ed Sheeran's 117-show Mathematics tour was a massive undertaking, but despite its sheer scale, the tour embraced innovation to create an intimate feel. TAIT partnered with the British singer-songwriter to build a stage that felt like his stripped-down solo performances but could also scale up to the sell-out stadium audiences he was entertaining nightly around the globe.

The vast performing area was created using our interlocking Mag Deck staging system, incorporating stunning LED video tiles. The real innovation, however, was the unique custom-built "annulus" turntable – a central automated ring that allowed Ed to play to every one of his fans around the stadium as it rotated. To add even more dynamism to the show, we installed 14 scissor lifts that could be raised to create four sets of steps in the center of the stage. Each automation element was perfectly synchronized by our TAIT Navigator Automation Platform.

Ed Sheeran’s Mathematics Tour was a huge success. An initial 27-date European tour sold out so rapidly that a further 37 European dates were added. Sheeran’s global appeal has seen the tour touch five continents – Europe, North America, South America, Australia, and Asia – and the artist remains one of the most successful artists and songwriters of his (or any other) generation.
