For the transfer of ‘An American in Paris’ to the West End, TAIT Stage Technologies provided a 24 axis automation package that included 21 BigTow winches acting as counterweight assists. This provided a temporary and cost-effective solution for automating the theatre’s existing flying system and enabled seamless scene changes throughout the show.
Bob Crowley’s set design is a marvel a minute: fast-moving projected-on screens conjure twinkling boulevards and the flowing Seine as if they’re Jerry’s swooning handiwork writ large. This technical wizardry culminates in a Mondrian-inspired back-drop for the climactic ballet-sequence that’s ravishingly hallucinogenic. – Dominic Cavendish, Theatre Critic for The Telegraph
