For Kylie Minogue’s tour, TAIT delivered a custom concert stage with more than a million moving parts; 50,000 litres of water; 30 high impact jets. The stage was one of the most technically advanced ever built, for this stalwart of popular music.
“Mixing original video, enormous set pieces, performer flying, previously un-toured special effects and dazzling choreography, the Aphrodite Les Folies tour is a jaw-dropping creating circling the globe.”– Live Design, August 2011
At it’s core, the touring structure featured a rotating, raking platform, as well as extensive use of water. In keeping with the mythological theme, we also created custom scenery – a Grecian temple wall.
High performance winches were installed for aerial performer displays above the elevated platforms and individually controlled water fountains. Powerful jets propelled water across the stage, making for both an engineering challenge and breathtaking spectacle. The B stage included a three-tier, hydraulic scissor lift, raising the performer from a glistening pool of water, surrounded by illuminated fountains.
Affectionately dubbed, the ‘tilt-a-whirl’, the rotating, raking platform lifted Kylie and her troupe to a 45° angle, creating an astonishing, kaleidoscopic effect.
