After having earned eight nominations, J Balvin performed a bright and robust performance at the MGM Grand Theatre in Las Vegas for the 2018 Latin Grammy Awards. The Columbian singer performed two tracks from his album ‘Vibras’ which later earned Best Urban Album of 2018.
J Balvin proved he was the ultimate performer at the Latin Grammys with his artsy, futuristic set created with flashy, iridescent fabric that moved above the stage. The set’s dynamic design kept the audience on their toes as Balvin’s onstage location was at first unknown until the iridescent fabric oscillated and changed shape ultimately revealing Balvin as he continued to perform. The different set looks included a low ceiling, an upstage wall and a downstage wall with several random undulations. To create a seamless production, 12 TAIT Nano Winches, operated by TAIT Navigator, were used for to move the iridescent fabric. Additionally, TAIT Navigator communicated to the lighting console, real-time position feedback of where the Nano Winches were in 3D space.
“Everyone was blown away by the surreal and very extraordinary look of J Balvin’s performance at the Latin Grammy’s and [TAIT] was a big part of making it happen. Thank you again for yourinvaluable contribution and collaboration on this project.”
