As part of the 2012 Olympic Ceremonies, TAIT integrated 50,000 LED pixels into five iconic London cabs which transported the Spice Girls around the stadium. Manufactured in under three weeks, each car included a staircase for access to the performance area on the taxi’s roof. A pneumatically deployed handrail was also used for stability while the cars travelled.
Battery-powered and switched on by the cab drivers when they received instructions via an earpiece, these pixels were programmed with colours and patterns that reflected each of the Spice Girls’ radiant personalities.
FUN FACT: TAIT is a Guiness World Record Holder for the “WORLD’S LARGEST LANDSCAPE VIDEO DISPLAY.”
