Turner Broadcasting announced their fall TV line up at Madison Square Garden at their 2016 Turner Upfront. TAIT provided staging and automation for the 2016 Turner Upfront Presentation.
As the Upfronts typically go, the 2016 Turner Upfront didn’t disappoint with a record attendance turnout of celebrity guests and live performances, step-n-repeats, bright lights, and larger than life stage displays. To exceed previous upfront sets, TAIT built a stage with tracking systems that moved eight video column platforms. The platforms revealed content while celebrity speakers took to the stage to announce the show lineup.
Automation was run by TAIT Navigator, TAIT’s proprietary software automation system, which controlled stage automation and movement of the video column platforms.
TAIT crafted the 93 ½ ft. stage by integrating three individual stages; a center stage and two 32 ft. stage decks that include two tracking systems in each stage deck. The installed tracking systems house power transmission units below the stage in order to move the video column platforms above stage. Each platform consists of two video columns that range in size from 11 ft. to 14ft. provided by Atomic Design.
To simultaneously manipulate a total of eight video column platforms, TAIT Navigator directed the power transmission units to drive the video column platforms across the stage while displaying video content. In addition to Atomic Design and World Stage, TAIT worked closely with Petermania, David Start Design, and Beame in order to deliver a stunning visual event that communicates the power of the Turner portfolio.
