We built 320 hospital beds with battery-operated LED pillows and duvets for a glowing choreographed performance during the London 2012 Olympic ceremonies.

With sustainability in mind, we designed and built these beds according to hospital specifications to ensure they could be reused.

Entirely waterproof, the duvets and pillows encased 20km of LED strips. On the night, they formed a dazzling illuminated visual display of shapes and letters.

After the event, Tait and a group of volunteers stripped the electrics from all 320 beds in two days. The beds were packed into eight sea containers, generously donated by Rock-It Cargo, for onward travel to a new home.

We partnered with Project Cure and Just a Bunch of Roadies to place all 320 beds in Tunisian hospitals where they’ll continue to save and improve lives for years.
