Indie pop trio, AJR, needed a striking staging design and automation elements that included a bi-parting video wall for their 2021 OK ORCHESTRA Tour. Having most recently provided staging and automation for AJR on their 2020’s One Spectacular Night Live Stream, TAIT was eager to collaborate with AJR’s management, Steve Greenberg, Josh Russak and production team, Steve Curtis and Mitchell Schellenger, on the staging and automation elements for the OK ORCHESTRA Tour.
The staging consisted of a band riser package which utilizes our modular Mag Deck System™ and is comprised of three band risers equipped with custom fascia. Light fixtures were built inside the risers to illuminate the custom fascia to resemble the look of piano keys. The upstage main riser had a treadmill built into it for the singer to perform on while the other two risers were built for the drummer and keyboardist. To reveal the band and risers at the start of the show was a video wall that featured a louvered opening. This bi-parting video wall hung from TAIT’s video track truss and was controlled by our proprietary, TAIT Navigator Automation System™.
The Navigator Automation System™ controlled both the video wall and the treadmill elements. Additionally, Navigator communicates with the lighting and video consoles to ensure synchronization between lighting, video, and automation. TAIT Crew member, Andrew Johnstone, hit the road as the programmer and operator for the tour, taking design direction from the production crew to ensure synergy with the other elements of the show.
