Anything Goes

Barbican Theatre

On London’s Silk Street lies the Barbican Centre, home of the world famous Barbican Theatre, which hosts the show Anything Goes for its 10-week run. Production Manager Richard Bullimore has been a loyal TAIT client and friend for decades. We’ve worked with him on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Wicked and the King and I amongst many others.

We were brought in by Richard to install three floor track winches which move scenery on and off stage. Supplied and installed by our Neasden, UK office, the winches were mounted vertically within the set for flexibility in terms of venue size. This setup was conceived with portability in mind, with an eye on the future of the show after its Barbican run.

The Barbican Theatre has a third-party automation system, but our integration team was on site to ensure there were no issues with winch control.

“Working with different vendors’ equipment is all part of a day’s work for our integration team. It’s rare that you’ll get a completely blank sheet of paper on a project, so integrating our products with third-party equipment is a specialism of ours.”

– Charlotte Lockyer, Senior Automation Engineer, TAIT.
