The Build

The project required the delivery of 4 suspended seamless light boxes, surrounded by 5 custom designed and made headers or counter rotating automated rings. These headers required over 1.3km of aluminium tube which were wrapped in wood effect vinyl and incorporated Japanese rice paper, frosted polycarbonate and brushed aluminium.

Brilliant were given a tight timescale of 8 weeks to complete the project in time for the opening of the NAIAS, with a large percentage of the manufacturing and fabrication completed in a productive 3-week period.

All of the different components were strategically stowed away in custom made air freight packing crates making for a quick and efficient construction process in Detroit.

The Stats

The project utilised over 7.5km of LED tape and over 274 metres of fabric material, using 8 different fabrics across 18 drapes. The largest build component weighed a mere 9 tonnes with a total shipping weight of 61 tonnes.
