The Olivier Awards is the glittering annual celebration of the best of British theatre, a UK-equivalent to the Tony Awards, held annually at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Recognizing that theatre is the point of origin for many of the talented creatives and practitioners working throughout the breadth of live entertainment markets, and that we are partners in creating many of the shows being celebrated at the awards, TAIT is delighted to be involved in several ways.
TAIT sponsors the “Best New Opera Production” which, in 2025, was won by Festen by the Royal Opera at the Royal Opera House, one of the leading London venues that has partnered with TAIT for automation.

TAIT also returned for the fifth time as a Production Partner for the live Olivier Awards ceremony, supplying the show’s automation requirements. The televised show features a large presentation screen that was raised and lowered throughout the show, displaying the categories, nominees and winners for each award. We supplied the automation to achieve this effect.
The screen motion presented the dual challenge of it being a heavy set piece, and it was also required to move smoothly at a speed greater than could be obtained by using chain hoists. Nonetheless we have the perfect solution in our stock of reconfigurable inventory: an array of BT2 winches, rigged in a dual-purchase configuration to accommodate the screen weight (allowing for safety factors). We integrated four winches inside one of the above-stage trusses, and controlled them as a synchronized group. Whilst our epiQ console is no stranger to the West End or theatre applications, the easy-to-operate console made it’s Olivier Awards debut for the 2025 show with flawless results.

2025 proved to be another fabulous year for British theatre, and TAIT was delighted to be involved at the heart of the action from both a production and sponsorship.
